Adobe Document Server for Reader Extensions
allows government agencies to add robust forms-processing tools to the free
and ubiquitous Adobe Reader software at no extra cost to their constituents.
In turn, their constituents can now download, save, fill in, digitally sign,
and submit electronic Portable Document Format (PDF) forms at their convenience,
dramatically lowering processing costs and virtually eliminating the need for
paper-based forms. And thanks to its interoperability with existing IT structures,
Document Server for Reader Extensions enables government organisations to make
the move to e-government more securely and easily.
How it works
Document authors create interactive Adobe PDF forms using
Adobe
Acrobat, then enable additional usage rights using Document Server for Reader
Extensions. Rights can be assigned to individual documents using a Web browser
interface, or batch assigned to large volumes of forms via an application programming
interface (API).
When someone opens a rights-enabled file in Adobe Reader
(version 5.1 or later), a dialog box appears stating which additional
features are now available to use.
