Types of IETP
There are currently 4 types of IETP with a new class
due to be implemented with Change 9 of the AECMA 1000D standard. The AECMA
1000D Classes of IETM 3 to 5 correspond to IETP-Linear (IETP-L), IETP-Database
(IETP-D) and IETP- Integrated (IETP- I).
IETP-L - this is a linear IETP that takes the source data
from the CSDB and builds a linear document. It is desirable, but not
required, to include the use of interaction attributes for facilitated
interactive presentation.
IETP-D - the IETP-D has its basis in a database which is queried,
thus allowing access to the underlying Data Modules. The data can be
presented through a standard linear publication construct or as query,
e.g. "give me all Data modules pertaining to the engine system".
IETP-I - the IETP-I takes the Database concept further and
allows queries to and from external applications, the most common scenario
is when carrying out a repair, a message is sent to the stores computer
relaying the spares usage. The stores computer would then use this as
a trigger to order stock.
IETP- H - this IETP uses HTML as an output mechanism. Web Delivery
will allow HTML files converted from AECMA SGML to be transferred across
an Intranet environment.
To be added with Change 9
IETP-X - XML based IETP.
